The Zapruder Films of Audio

If any cassette tapes deserve to become known as the “Zapruder films of audio recordings,” it’s these.

Most Compelling Film in Years

Paul McCartney Really is Dead may be one of the most compelling things I've seen in years! The production on this is top notch all the way around, interesting graphics, video clips, photos, narrations and an impressive editing job - I've yet to see a film that covers this controversial subject as complete and thorough as presented here. Not only is this highly recommend but I plan on playing this for as many as I can round up.

A must-watch film

This is a must-watch documentary for anyone who lived through Beatlemania and for newer Beatles fans who want to reach back to that magical time...

Herb Seigal - New York, NY

Everything a conspiracy should be

The production certainly has everything a conspiracy theory DVD should have. A lurid and highly improbable premise. A central storyteller who knows "the truth." An evil, mysterious, all-powerful villain and/ or organization who are manipulating everything. Menacing music, shocking photos, and quick cuts to heighten the suspense. It works!

Howard Greene, Culver City, CA

Wow. All I can say is wow...

Wow. All I can say is wow…what I saw in this unauthorized documentary was both chilling and uncanny and if it's to be believed, exposes an incredible coverup dating back to the mid-1960's. if you have even the slightest interest in The Beatles, Paul McCartney or the conspiracy surrounding his "death," this is must-see stuff. The evidence Joel Gilbert presents is compelling and it's hard to ignore the piles and piles of possible references on The Beatles' album covers and simply chalk it up to their drug use. It's worth watching, possibly even a second time.

Conspiracy theorists and Beatles fans will enjoy this one immensely, though it will make them wonder.

Hard not to be amused...

It’s hard not to be amused by this Behind The Music/conspiracy theory mash-up. Of course, all the conspiracy theories become true. This is the film that justifies smoking a ton of pot with your friends in high school and debating Beatles myths.

Interesting Take

It is far-fetched obviously, but a clever and an interesting take to do it in documentary form.

Watch it yourself...

I still can’t tell you on which side of the argument I fall.  Perhaps this is all just a very creative way for Gilbert to construct a documentary about the phenomenon of the whole Paul is Dead controversy. Of course, if that's the case, he should have brought us in on the joke at some point.  My advice to you is get this DVD and watch it yourself. It’s an interesting exercise in rational thought either way.

This film will excite you

A very impressive piece of fiction. Born out of the spirit of films like the Blair Witch Project and The Fourth Kind. All in all though, the DVD was very well done in the respect that it credibly explains all of the alleged back masking, album cover clues, and tragic publicized incidents and weaves them into one cohesive story. Its almost down right believable if you know nothing about the Beatles. This film will excite you. I recommend this film. It is what it is and I wouldn’t recommend anyone take the film too seriously except to just enjoy the effort.

Great Addition

This DVD is a great addition for collectors of Beatle memorabilia, conspiracy lovers and music historians. This new take on the oldest rock music rumor is meticulous in its approach. Not many stones were left unturned...even the rolling ones.

You Don't Have to be a Conspiracy Theorist

You don't have to be a conspiracy theorist to really enjoy this film.
The sheer number of clues is staggering and will leave a even the biggest cynic a little unsure about what to believe. Filled with tons of great Beatles footage a must see for any Beatles fan.

Wow!

I was never a true believer in the Paul is Dead story, but after watching the DVD, listening to all the facts and seeing all the clues, I'm a believer! This film is worth a watch for any true Beatle fan who wants to learn more about how this conspiracy. And if you’re at the "Paul McCartney" show Wednesday night, take a good look at the guy on stage. He may not be who he says he is.

Earns a Solid B+

A highly-entertaining film.  Specifically, the editing is dazzling and effective. Also very well utilized are the myriad news clips weaved into the storyline.  Many of these clips I'd never even seen before. Gilbert was assiduous and exhaustive in his research. One thing that really impressed me was the shear amount of clues that were presented that I'd never heard or seen before. One remarkable feat accomplished by Director/Creator Gilbert: he managed to keep my interest for 95 minutes!  Earns a solid B+ from me.

It will stop you in your tracks

Could this be a hoax heaped upon another hoax? Or is that the voice of George Harrison calmly relating the cover up in precise chronological detail?  My opinion doesn't matter.  What matters is that this film has the ability to stop you in your tracks and make you reconsider your previous beliefs about the whole "Paul is Dead" mystery.

Paul McCartney Really Is Dead is a extremely well-paced and well-produced, and is best described as a “dark comedy thriller” as it takes the “Paul is Dead” mystery to an entirely new level.  Highly recommended for all Beatles fans, music history fans and conspiracy theorists!

I was ready to buy In...

Throughout the DVD, there is just so much “evidence” trotted out and explained with such conviction that one can either laugh it off as a total hoax, become convinced that Paul McCartney is really dead, or simply be impressed by the massive amount of effort producer John Gilbert put into tying together so many factors of the Paul is Dead deception. It’s a measure of how well Gilbert has put this together that there were moments when I was ready to buy into his story.

Valuable insight...

Even die-hard Beatles’ fans never seem to question the utter randomness of some of their lyrics and album themes; mostly it’s looked upon as sheer brilliance. Whether or not you believe Paul McCartney is dead, this DVD provides valuable insight into the idiosyncratic nature of Beatles’ songs, and definitely makes you wonder whether or not this information has validity.

The Trades - RJ Carter

Pure Gold

On a purely dark comedic sort of level, this is pure gold. Gilbert takes the whole "Paul Is Dead" myth to ridiculous and honestly, quite humorous lengths. And it is in that spirit, that Paul McCartney Really Is Dead should be taken. That said, as long as you don't take it too seriously, the premise here is sort of entertaining, in a darkly humorous sort of way. I also have to admit that it had me kind of going for a minute there. Just don't tell anybody, okay?

A Must Have

Just because something is completely illogical, it does not mean that it is not entertaining, it is just too much fun not to watch. If you are a Beatles fan, this is one DVD that you will not want to miss. I don’t believe one word of it, but it is an entertaining story. Grab a copy of this DVD, it is a must have!

An Entertaining Watch

There's some cool footage, and the film is put together well. The clues presented may get you scratching your head at times, but for the most part you go with it because there are some interesting clues that the lads supposedly left. An entertaining watch for Beatle and non-Beatle fans.

Sails over the horizon

Just when you thought there was absolutely bugger all left in the Beatle closet worth listening to, writing about or indeed watching, this little gem courtesy of director Joel Gilbert sails over the horizon! Utter hokum from the word go of course, but great fun nonetheless.

"Do not watch this chilling and disturbing documentary late at night, or you may find yourself running screaming through your house in a state of panic, making calls to the police and friends. Yes, it is that scary."

Songs Will Never Be The Same

Listening to Beatles songs after viewing this film will never be the same again. In The Long and Winding Road, "The wild and windy night that the rain washed away, has left a pool of tears" conjures up images from the film, whether viewers think it is true or not.

The bottom line is there are three ways of looking at this film. The first is that it is all a joke and purely fiction. The second is that it is real. The third is that all the “clues” explained in the film are real and were a joke on the public by the true Fab Four. After all, this was a time of sex, drugs, and rock and roll, with an emphasis on the drugs.

Eye-opening stuff

Powerful - all the evidence provided via the lyrics or art will surely leave you surprised. You need to see it, to believe it.

Comedic Entertainment...

This film serves the useful purpose of collecting all the Dead McCartney conspiracy clues into one place, and serving them up with a cohesive narrative. It's as entertaining as it is absurd, and it makes for a great conversation starter at parties. But it's certainly not to be taken seriously. My grade for this film is purely based on its comedic entertainment value, not for its accuracy of reporting.

An Entertaining Romp...

This film is an entertaining romp in Beatles lore, recounting the idea that Paul McCartney died in a car accident in 1966 and was replaced by a lookalike in order to prevent mass hysteria and fan suicides.

Creative Fan Fantasy

At last, the truth can be told about one of rock and roll's greatest mysteries!  Director Joel Gilbert does a laudible and expert job of melding creative fan fantasy with the real aspects of Beatles albums, photography, and history - including a good chunk of rare footage - to make it all seem plausible. A bizarre little effort, but one absolutely worth seeing.

A Must for a Beatle Fan!

Great fun. Of course, Paul is alive and kicking and although the whole situation is illogical and totally unreal, it’s also extremely entertaining. The dvd also includes off-the-wall items like John’s assassination, right through to Heather Mills. Without doubt a must for a Beatle fan!

Sharon David - Blue and Soul.com

Definitely Entertaining

Several of the clues were completely new to me, particularly some of the backmasked ones. I also agree with you about how entertaining this film is.  The editing is clever and the presentation of PID clues kept my attention, which is not all that easy, particularly with such a long list of clues to run through.  I was impressed with how the filmmaker found a way to make a distinctive, comprehensive story out of the "Paul is dead" mythology.  Anyone interested in the "Paul is dead" story will be entertained by this movie.  Logical? No.  But definitely entertaining.
